Tarra-Gonna Ride 80km?

Saturday 4th April

We're going to get up and going early and beat our personal best, Tarragona is 80kms......yep ..yep.. .nah! Not today. It's bloody windy as hell. Oh and we've not got up early either, and there are so many people trying to use the toilets it is mayhem.

Got out of camp after 10:30am, cause we needed another ham, cheese, tomato loaf of bread and coffee. Thinking this would get us going, it was tough. We faced the 30+ kilometre per hour winds head on, thinking they would drop off soon. But they didn't. We were uphill again, on a moderate gradient, that wouldn't have been too bad without the wind. We managed to bust up to 10km/hr for a short spurt,  then needed a break. We'd done 7kms. Will thought a Redbull might help him along.

Hope it gives you wings, then you can tow me.

I'll stick to my coke zero and hide from the wind.

The wind did not slow down,  and even going down hill was no great relief, until we started to change direction and turn toward the ocean. At least then it was a cross wind.

Those wind turbines are cranking, unlike me.

That is a nuclea power station.  Imagine Will as Homer Simpson.

Will just keeps on going! Like the every ready bunny. I had to stop.

We stopped at a little village called L'Hospitalet De L'Infant for some lunch. We ate always surprised at the buildings and old structures that have been preserved. ...and the smokers.

Centre of L 'Hospitalet De L'Infant

We were pushing out of L' Hospitalet De L'Infant, through Miami Playa, when we were flagged down by a couple of pedestrians. Andrew and Alison are touring cyclists from Toronto, who are riding from Barcelona to Lisbon. They were really excited to see some other cyclists, and we will be looking up their blog as they have been doing this for 20yrs. Should be interesting reading.

This is a good one. Most look like tomb stones.
Along our ride,  we have been seeing these little concrete markers.  Most of then are rotting and decrepit,  but this one had been maintained.must mean something?

Another amazing beach front ride
Will and I like to find a route that is low in cars.  These beach front/boardwalk type tracks are bloody awesome. Except for random children or roller bladers. Always scenic and easy going.

Our first destination.  Some old cootes playing cards

We managed to find our way easily,  to our accommodations. Only to be told they had put us in their other venue around the corner,  as it was more secure for bicycles.  While Will dealt with the changes and directions, I had a nice bout of charades with a bunch of old dudes playing done wierd card game. I got they thought we were crazy, and they loved Australia.  Cool!

So many people and we are 100kms from Barcelona.  Ugh!
Down the road and around the corner,  we were stopped in our tracks by a crowd. All waiting for the train. We could not believe it was Easter Sunday!  So busy.

We had Spanish Chinese,  same as Aussie Chinese.

We got ourselves cleaned up and went next door for Chinese. It is really nice to know it tastes the same here as home. Comfort food. But traditional battered fried Ice Cream. Awesome.
