10/02/15 to 20/02/15 Count Down to Europe, both excited !

10/02/15 to 20/02/15 Count Down to Europe, both excited !
The last 10 days have been busy with many highlights and some lowlights.
The Great:
Will and Jenny's 22nd Wedding Anniversary.
Joanne and Ainsley came over from Adelaide for a reciprocal visit, this made us get off our butts, too show them what the Peel and Perth areas have to offer.
Picked up our VW Kombi from the Canvas people in Mandurah, they had done a great job and only charged us $880, which was well under their original quote !
The Good:
Used the boat heaps and it's running well.
Caught some crabs, "yummo".
Every thing seems to be on Schedule for our departure to Spain on the 17th of March.
Went to the Eagles Concert at the new Perth Arena, which gave us a "Peaceful Easy Feeling" (they were very good).
The Undecided:
We went up to Perth to see the Giant Puppets, while they looked fantastic, the crowd was huge, we are not fans of big crowds and Perth isn't overly prepared for swarms of people, though they did manage to get through the event without to much mishap.
Now The Ugly:
Me, I went to get some new glasses organised for our Europe Trip and the Optometrist noticed the pressure in my right eye is double what is exceptable.  So off to the Eye Specialist the next day and I'm told that I have Pigment Dispersion Syndrome.... great, luckily it should be manageable with eye drops.
Jenny, has been feeling average since just before heading over to Adelaide, when we did the Camper Relocation, after multiple blood tests it has been confirmed that she has the dreaded Ross River Virus. A debilitating disease that is transmitted from a mosquito bite. So she has had it for about 6 weeks now. Most people get over it after 3 to 6 months. We are hopeful that it will not disrupt our Europe Trip to much. We did a 32km ride today and it went pretty well. Fingers crossed !

Happy 22nd Anniversary, at the Oyster Bar
Mandurah.

Bung right eye ! PDS can be controlled with drops hopefully.

Dixie the VW Camper Kombi, New tent section
now in place.

Couple of minor oil leaks to sort out, new
sliding side glass to fit, house battery to install & interior
to upgrade

On Cooleenup Island walking to Coopers Mill.

Cooperstown Mill construction started in the 1840's

Now what?

I know let's cruise up the Murray River.

For a swim, water temp 27degC and
salty.

Stop at the Ravenswood Hotel for lunch.

Fish & chips done and dusted.

Crazy eyes selfie!

Next day we head for Dwellingup, Jenny's taking the Kombi.

And I'll take the bike, swap Jo and Ainsley around on the different transport modes.

Jo: "that seat is to high for me to
get on"

I'll stand on this mounting stump
and you can bring the bike over to me.

There that was easier .

And away we go, with the Kombi in
hot pursuit .

In Perth CBD off to see the Giant Puppets.

1.2m people over 3 days, it's Sunday and there
must have been well over 300 000.

Giant Diver looking for his niece (on the Saturday)

Giant Diver in the background on
Mounts Bay Road, near the Swan River.

Jenny & Ainsley enjoying the show.

People every where and 32degC day.

More people, hard to move in the crowd

The Diver and his Niece depart on the Swan River.

Heading back to Mandurah on the
crowded train.

Jo having a fish.

She caught a 26cm black bream.

Which was baked & eaten.

The next day, more boating. It turned
into a jammed packed day !

Relaxing on the beach at Doddies.

Swimming at Doddies Beach, Mandurah.

36degC day, Monday and the beach
is deserted. Well someone has to have
fun while everyone is working !

Tapas for lunch at Catch 22 Mandurah
Marina.

The boat parked at the Marina.

Tour through Port Mandurah canals to check out the mega-homes.

Worth a look, some nice houses.

Then we stop to do some crabbing
On the way home.

I make Jo & Ainsley do all the work
they have never been crabbing before.

The final haul was 10.

Ainsley Skippers the boat back to
South Yunderup .
Jenny and Joanne think she drives
to fast, cider does that to you :-)

Tuesday we stop at Fremantle on the way
to the Airport. I decide to try some Parkour.

Visitors have gone home, so on Wednesday Jen & I go for a 32km training ride.

Quick toilet break at Murray Bend.

Then later we stop at Bivouac in North
Bridge for dinner with George & Judith,
before the concert.

Jenny managed to snap a couple
of sneaky photos of The Eagles
playing before she copped an official
warning. Great concert, we all enjoyed it.

As you may have noticed we struggle to get the photos & captions to work on the blog. We are getting better, though it's difficult to get our Android Phones,  & Mini iPads to all work in unison. More practice & experimenting should improve the layout. So far it's time consuming but fun.
The blog updates will be intermittent until we do something interesting or go adventuring.
In the meantime time take care & remember to have some fun. Will

Got Crabs

Got ourselves out of bed early this morning to go crabbing. Thought we'd have one last shot of the season.

It was a beautiful morning for it too.  We chucked in our nets and just drifted around in the slight breeze.

We did three runs and caught 7 good size crabbies.  Yum!
The breeze had dropped right off,  so we decided to try some scooping, we'd run out of bait. Neither of us brought our bathers. ....hmmmm.... Who cares!
