Salou to Cubelles....50 Somthing to Barcelona

Easter Sunday

Slow morning, after major sleepless night. Yes, Will snored, but the night life is endless here in the non-stop party town of Salou. I'd never heard if it, as I presume most people wouldn't have, but it is a holiday destination for the wealthy, young, fun loving Spanish. And Easter or no, they come here to party. So, all night long, in between the extreme bear noises, there was random singing, cheering and just loud happy people.

Wine we had to drink or carry tomorrow. ..easy choice.

I think I would recommend this place to young people trying to hook up. Needless to say, again our departure time was later than desired.

Coffee and people watching to start the day.

Louis and the team were awesome, and the coffee we had down the strip was superb. Finally we got on the bikes around 10:30am, then ran into Albert! A guy from Belgium, who has cycled all over Europe and loves Australian movies.  He told us all about his phillosophy and doing at least one crazy thing in your life. He was great.

A nice little downhill section.

On we rode. I think we are both a bit tired, as neither of us has a good attitude today. Not feeling the love. From Salou we followed a minor highway up and down the hills. Past lots of industrial areas, and even a theme park, called Aquopolis.

Wierd looking things, part of Repsol refinery.

Coming into Tarragona, it was major refinery and port. We passed the Repsol refinery, which is absolutely massive. I was thinking this was going to be a place to get through quickly, but as we came into the centre and headed towards the sea, we saw it was quite pretty. Clean, open and full of old restored buildings, and some awesome sculptures.

Cool sculpture in the centre of Tarragona

Maybe a hot dog will cheer us up?

Or maybe some live traditional music?

Or maybe this awesome view?

I don't know, but this place is amazing!

We road along the seafront, dodging the millions of people strolling along, then continued on North.  After about 30kms, we needed a break. There were heaps of hills, nothing unmanageable, but seemed hard with our added bad attitudes. We followed a jogger along a gravel road (couldn't catch him as hard as we tried) towards a place called Torredembarra. As we rolled down into the centre, we noticed the old buildings, and the streets narrowing. It ended up being a gorgeous old town, so we stopped and had beautiful warm goats cheese salad with fruit and nuts.....oh and beers. For the attitude.

The beginning of the Old Town

More live traditional music at lunch. Cool.
It's just like the other one but mini.

An old archway as the centre of the round about. Cool.

From there, we were heads down bums up and pushing out the Kays. The wind had picked up, but our attitudes hadn't. We rode along the beach front, but it became too windy and cold, so we slipped a street back for protection.

It's windy and getting cold...are we there yet?
Aiming for Vilanova I La Geltru, after 57kms, we'd had enough. So what ever camp ground we came to that could fit us in was going to be it. At 60kms we found one! Awesome, they even had a bungalow, it was cold and we were tired.

So "Tus Passporta, Por Favor?" "Valle........hmmm" . My passport is not where it should be.....OH. MY. GOD! Where the fuck is it? Will looks, I look, I panic, Will says to just use the photocopy to get the room and we'll figure out where it is. Ok, do that, and after pulling everything out, and reliving the last 24hrs, we decide it is in the room in Salou. A quick phone call, a nervous wait, and a small amount of relief to hear they have found it.

Anxiously waiting on Passport Recovery. ...
Now to figure out how to get it! Tomorrows adventure! For now it is safe and by hell I need a drink!
