Cool to Kulin and The Tinhorse Hwy

2/09/15 40kms East of Kulin to Kondinin 65kms

Wogolan was not too bad for camping, and no rain was a plus, but man was it freezing. It was tough getting up, and when we finally did, we found ice on the tarp we'd covered the kids with. Brrr!  Will restarted the fire which was awesome, then we got onto our morning duties. We got back on the road around 10am, a good effort considering the temp.

So back up those bastard hills, 5kms back to the road to Kulin. Then it was uphill for quite a few more kilometres before our first little downhill rest. Our toes had gone numb already, and it was not getting warmer at all. After 15kms, we passed by Jitarning, another tiny little settlement in some beautiful Aussie bush, and the hills kept coming.

Don't blink, you will miss it. Silo's and a Hostel?

Yep, you blinked, didn't you?

The clouds kept coming too, but luckily no rain. All we could think of was Kulin, and something nice and warm to eat. We had a little rest stop for B A N A N A S and the last of our Minties, then tried to just push it out. Finally, the downhill into Kulin. We could see it, and it was enough to get us there.

Kids having a little rest, while we eat bananas and Minties.

What do farmers do while the crops are growing? Take a look at this.

Aaahh, finally a decent downhill to rest the bum!

Yay, we are as good as there.....food, we need food!

We filled up our water bottles, and then decided we'd have something substantial, and do some shopping and cook our own dinner. So straight to the pub, and the beautiful people had a raging wood fire going, and it was warm and welcoming. Straight up, a couple of steak sandwiches please, a beer and a coke. Oh, how good is this? They were great sangers, and it was hard to drag ourselves away from the warmth, but we did, and head to the IGA for supplies.

Anyone for a chilling ride on the water slides? Not what you expect to see in the Wheatbelt.

Nothing left to do, but get cracking towards Kondinin, 23kms away down the Tinhorse Highway.  It was freezing, but it promised to be more downhill than up and the wind was again trying to be helpful. The bush changed, with the wildflowers changing and the road surface a bit rougher. Still the passing vehicles were awesome, and we finally saw the sign for our destination. Woo hoo! Again, the run to town was a nice downhill cruise.

It's still frickin cold man.....frickin cold!

Oh, at last, we are at the end of our day. Thanks for not raining on us.

We found the shire camping area, and Will went to sort out payment etc, while I guarded the kids from the grey nomads. There were several already parked up for the night, and we had a nice chat. Finally Will came back to get us all sorted. Tent up, hot showers, some pub take always, and then we used the little camp kitchen to cook our dinner and catch up on homework. It was a great day over all, and we are close to the end of part A, of our tour. Feeling a bit fatigued and muscle sore, but fitness coming back at last.
