Bloody Hell, We're Here!

09/09/15 Woodlands Picnic Area to Norseman 44kms

Another great night, early one, but relaxing and enjoyable. I was buggered, and so was Barry. He has done an awesome job of being our support crew, and although it would have been possible without him, it would have been so much harder and less fun.

Lovely morning listening to the birds that sound like star wars laser fights.

Barry cooked us up a pasta surprise for breakfast, and then we all skipped to and packed up as quick as we could. The bloody flies were awake and driving us nuts. We were all desperate for showers, and lucky Barry jumped into Melba and tore off down the road for home and it's luxuries. We plonked our bums on the Brooks saddles, and begun the final run for Norseman. It was a beautiful day, with a slight breeze not completely in our favour, but helpful-ish.

We're eating dust, but the wind is helpful enough to push it across the road from us.

Straight away, the traffic was busier, with lots of trucks and four wheel drives, but no problems with the big wide road. With lots of lively rolling hills, heading in the downward direction, we got to the turn off for Mort Harslett drive, a tourist drive into town, that cuts off about 5 or 6 kays. It is also very scenic and goes along a causeway across Lake Cowan.

A nice long downhill run.....weeeeeee! Cruising.

Heading for the super downhill run on Mort Haslett drive. Can't wait.

After a couple of ripper short steep hills, we hit the actual downhill run to town. Woo hoo, hoo.....not too fast, it was a bit slippery. Will disappeared into the distance, but I restrained Betty, and caught up halfway down, as a tourist van had stopped Will for a chat. Mate, that is bad etiquette, stopping a cyclist on the downhill.

They were a nice couple, and we had a nice chat, and just as we were heading off again, Barry came around the bend towards us. We hardly recognised him, he was so clean and shiny. He had bought us a pie and an ice tea each, to make sure we had enough energy to get to town. It was so frickin good.

Heading across the Lake, and around the island.

Nearly there Jen, just a couple more turns.

It really didn't take us very long to ride across the lake, although it winds back and forth, into the strong wind and back around. An interesting ride, there is even an island I the middle, called Cherry Island. Hmmm, wonder how it got that name, with a few tracks up the sides, for 4wds.....parking?

Yay, proof we did it, not that we need it, but cool.

Barry, we'd missed you! You smell so nice now.

Arriving at Nicole and Barry's was such a good feeling, a real achievement. Sometimes it feels like we are watching someone else do this riding thing, and to think it is actually us is amazing. We showered, which was heavenly, and then got the washing on, and just relaxed. Dinner was already on, so we just enjoyed the view from the back yard, had a few celebratory drinks, and it was great.

Cheers everybody, cheers.....

And cheers again.....thanks Barry and Nicole!

We'll have a rest/clean up day, and get sorted for the next section of our adventure. So glad to have got this far.

Great view from the backyard in Norseman. Very, very special.
