Good Reason To Train

Ah, here is a good reason for a little bit of training. My brother had a birthday.  He lives about 25km from our place,  and was having a party. Surely that is a great reason to ride somewhere?

We left home around 3pm, and it was a bit warm. But we had a light tail wind and we managed to average 20+km/hr. We made a brief stop for some party refreshments before arriving on time (if a little sweaty).

A quick dip in John's pool, and a nice cold beverage in hand and the training was complete. Party on!

It was a great night with many Mexicans consumed and a brilliant seafood chowder made by the birthday boy (all self caught fresh seafood). This made us a bit slow to get going in the morning, with a late lunch time departure.
Heading into Singleton to continue along the beach road.

We decided to head to Will's brothers house in Secret Harbor to extend our training.  It is a nice 14km ride along the coast mostly.

Another nice night with family and an earlier start to head home today.  (Up with the kids heading off to school, poor buggers).

We took the most direct route which was mostly on the cycle track along the Kwinana freeway.
The only (small) hill on the way home. Paganoni Rd.

Stop for more air (in tires), half way home.

It was humid with a slight head wind and a very pleasant ride,  with a much more experienced (and older,  fitter) cyclist joining us for a chat before leaving us in his dust.

The ride home was 32km, really feels like more when we driver it.

Anyone else having a party we can use for more training?  It seems to do the trick.
