The 30% Rule. Day 47.

3/05/15, Day 47, Sunday, Italy, Albenga to Arenzano, 74kms. Low overcast cloud all day, humid, 18degC. Minimal wind, spent 110€, depart chook yard 9.30am, arrived 3.30pm.

Cruised along the coast all day, pretty straight forward.
We have realised that Italy have their own style of power outlet & we don't have an adaptor to suit.
The lovely Italian lady at the Hotel Serena in Arenzano has loaned us an adaptor, but I think I'll have to find a Richardo Smithio Electrical Shop and purchase one. (Or the equivalent of a Dick Smith Electrical, for my non Aussie friends).

4 adapters to charge up our gadgets, this is getting out of control, not to mention the S word !

We woke up at 7am after a restless night, bright light above our tent in the chook yard tent site all night. So I kept waking up thinking it was daylight !
I made some hot drinks & got some yummy muesli together, we packed & then had an easy cycle warm up. 3 km down hill run, yippee !

After 20kms we stopped at Pietra Ligure for coffee & toilet break. Then onwards, a lot of the ride was on the SS1 minor highway, the car drivers have been exceptionally good, not one truck was on that road today (???) maybe not allowed on Sunday's ?

Why are you doing the "crazy eye" smile Jen?

Next a lunch stop in the park at Savona, made our own. Then onto a cycle path, again an old disused rail line converted to bikes & walking. We went through at least 10 tunnels !

SS1 Highway. The towns all blur into one.

Coming up to another tunnel, I just love tunnels, it means no hill climb.

Check out the views, imagine it on a sunny day, this is our last full day riding along the Mediterranean.

Old rail line bike path tunnel, needed our lights on for these dark suckers....

Finally we reached Arenzano, we had stopped at the previous town at a Bar, had a couple of pints & used the free wifi to search out tonight's bed !

Hotel Serena, we have arrived, Arenzano, Italy.

All settled in and the Mother/Daughter team were wonderful, even let us bring our bikes up to the first floor & leave them outside our door.
We have just been out for dinner and been stung in the hip pocket for 55€, 4 beers and two average meals, never ever going there again....ever !
That's the thing about this trip, much of what we are seeing you may never get the chance to see again. Still live in the moment and enjoy the good, learn from the bad & get on with it.

Will & Jenny's 30% Rule !
*Only ride at 70% your ability, leave 30% for your inability.
*If your bladder is 30% full always use the toilet if one presents itself.
*Once you have used 30% of your water top up if a fountain appears.
*Try to make sure there is still 30% daylight left when you decide to park up.
*Have 30 sheets of toilet paper always handy.
*30% Food, 30% Accommodation, 30% Drinks in our ideal budget world, and the remainder 10% save it for an emergency.

SOME RANDOM PHOTOS FROM TODAY, CLOUDY BUT NO RAIN, GOOD DAY !

21 towns in 74kms, it is almost impossible to remember what had which....blurred !
