Taken A Big Bight? Just Keep Chewing!

02/03/16

Just over two weeks since our last post, and where have we got to? Not very bloody far! Ugh, these "Projects", are maybe a bit big a bite, but what is one to do, but just keep chewing through it, and try not to choke!

Project 1 - The House, is still waiting for initial drawings from our design crew, but we have given the current garage and garden shed to a lovely pensioner, who has a good friend, who will come and dismantle them and take them away for us. Yay, because I was not looking forward to that job. But that project is waiting, waiting, waiting. Oh, we have secured the new shed, but now must wait for shire approval. Ugh...... I am not good at this waiting rubbish.

Project 2 - The Home, has finally been painted, and looks great. Well done Ken, and thank you for working around the things we didn't move. Halfway through the work, we had a couple of visitors. We are members of Warmshowers, which is a cycling site/group, that provides free accommodation to other members. Our hosts on Kangaroo Island are members, and were our second experience using this service. We hadn't hosted anyone before, and when we got a request, we were very excited to help out fellow adventurers.

Everything squished up in the centre so Ken can get to the walls.

This one is easy.....it's empty!

Our custom computer desk is not moving again until carpet is done. It is HEAVY!

One room is normal again.....yay!

Alex (from France), and Sanaz (from Iran), had been in Perth for a couple of days, and heading south. They contacted us, and we agreed to have them on Friday night. Our friends, Darren and Delys, were coming for dinner, which we arranged previously, but we didn't think they would mind meeting some new people. As you may all realise by now, cycling is not a concise science, with many factors affecting the outcome of every day. So it was that our cyclists never made it in time for dinner, and our evening had all but finished up by the time we got a call for rescue.

Happy for the rescue team to arrive, hey Sanaz?

Bikes secured, and bags loaded, let's head home Alex!

Darren and Delys, were kind of rushed out, for which we might owe them another evening, and we hooked up the trailer and rushed over to Mandurah train station to the rescue. The poor buggers had had a huge day, sight seeing, cycling into savage south westerlies, and finally had caught the train from Rockingham, once they realised it was getting too late. So we made it home by about 10.30pm, where we chatted, and had a beer, and some leftovers. Having only six weeks to see the southwest and get to the other side of the country, we discussed routes, sights and strategies for the next day, and decided to take them across the estuary to Dawesville, so they could ride the Old Coast road, instead of the boring Forest highway.

After a big sleep in, some breakfast watching the dolphins (bless them for coming in), we loaded the bikes and gear into our little boat, and took off across the estuary. It happened to be perfect out there, with little wind, no swell, lots of Pelicans (which Sanaz had never seen before), and we zipped across in good time. We unloaded them at Parkridge, said good luck, see ya later and all that, and headed for the Cut for lunch. It was a cool experience, and everything worked out great. It did make me want to go for another ride. Focus, just stay focused on "The Projects".....aaaaggghhh!

It takes all types of transport for a proper adventure.

The weather gods were really looking after us, providing this perfect day.

Sanaz really enjoyed the boat ride.

As did Will.

Our house is painted, but still in disarray, we are waiting for new carpets in the three bedrooms and study. No point putting the furniture back in yet. Why do we have to wait for every little thing? So frustrating! Keep chewing, keep chewing!

Thanks Ken, a job well done........again.

Project 3 - Escape Vehicle, is sporting the second new window, and waiting for Will to complete some wiring for a second battery and other stuff. This week we should be able to unpack Dixies' new cabinets, and see how they fit. That will be exciting. We did take her out for a spin the other day. Our friends Jo and Muz, have a farm nearby, so we checked in with them, giving us a good chance to drive the bus up there. As always, she is a complete joy to drive, but she felt like a supercharged version, without the weighty, old cupboards holding her back. But she sits in the garage just patiently waiting for her repairs.

The Windows that need changing.....

First the lubrication.........

Then the technical pressure, and capture.

Prepping the new window for insertion........

It's in........

Not a perfect execution, but it will be ok......bummer!

Heading out for a spin.....

Dixies mate at the farm......a nice couple!

Our mates at the farm......great couple.

Heading home from the farm.......those boys are a bad influence.......

In between all this waiting, we are managing to go to the gym, three times a week, working hard, pumping iron, sweating buckets, and causing ourselves much pain. We both feel stronger, but are still frustrated with our weight. We have also managed to attend yoga class, once a week, and even Will is enjoying it........I think!

Hayden came for a visit and a quiet fish, caught a few nice bream he threw back.

We moved some boxes to The House, for storage while we try to sell.

As happens when Will and Jen sit around waiting, many schemes, plans and adventures are discussed. Some actually get booked, but others just do what all our current projects are doing, sit waiting some action. One adventure has been booked, with Will sorting out a trip with his dad, to Tassie. This one is something his dad has wanted to do for a very long time, and just hasn't got to doing it. It is Bill's 70th birthday this year, time is not our friend, so we just booked it, rang him, and told him when he is going. That should be an interesting adventure, father and son, "Will and Bill's Excellent Adventure ". Who can't wait to hear about that one?

So while I keep chewing away at our projects, Will gets an excellent adventure. Something doesn't seem quite fair here, but we'll see. Maybe I can score big points for later on. I believe everything will happen at once, probably while Will is away, and I will have to step up. That could be interesting couldn't it?
