It's My Birthday, My Birthday, My Birthday!

02/11/15 Auburn

That's right people, it's my birthday. Usually it goes for a week, but this year it has been going on since March and our Europe tour. So it was just a bit of relaxing and taking a look around this cute little town. Will did all our usual rest day jobs, the washing, cooking and he even cleaned our riding shoes. They are going to get dirty tomorrow, but it's their first clean ever.

Shoes waiting for their birthday too.

His only shorts have had a bit of a failure, so Will found a sewing kit and fixed them.

Washing is done and drying, he is a good husband.

After a very leisurely morning, we took a walk around, to see what this town was about. Both the nearby wineries were closed on Monday's, so that was easy. Then we stopped at Cogwebs Cafe, for a cold drink and a sandwich. This cafe is also the information centre for anything cycling in the region, and the lady owner had maps for The Mawson trail, and let us check them out. She also told us a bit about it, and they also have a "Menu" for bike maintenance. Very cool.

The Catholic Church in town.

One of the wineries that was closed.

Something different....

Fun descriptions for the fixes and maintenance.

While we were chilling at the cafe, other customers came in, and one made us both do a double take. It took me a couple of seconds to register, it was Max! Wow, we hadn't seen him since Coffin Bay, or heard from him either. It was great to catch him up again. Double great cause it was his birthday yesterday. So we enjoyed hearing about his time in Adelaide, and that he has been riding on the Mawson from Adelaide to here and is continuing on it northward. He is still heading to Alice Springs. Follow his blog, cycloaustralis.wordpress.com .

Hey, well hello Max. Great to see you again.

Max showing us his new technique for opening a beer. Use the clip in peddle! Simple!

After we saw Max off onto the Riesling Trail, we returned home, and just relaxed until dinner time. Then we returned to the pub for a delicious dinner. It was an exhausting but very nice birthday, and I'm looking forward to riding The Rattler trail tomorrow. Praying that it doesn't rain.

We had a visit from some Guinea fowl. They were so cute.
